We need your help!
The Census is coming to a close – the last day to fill out the census will be Sept 30th.
A census tent will be setup at the football game against Rockwood this week, Sept 18th, to help residences fill out the census information on the spot or answer any questions they may have. They will also be setup at the courthouse one day on a court day.
Meigs County is at 51.7% response rate – lower than what the rate was in 2010.
It is important it is to fill out your census especially since it’s only taken once every 10 years. Every person counted is $1,091.00 for our county to use each year for Schools, Medicaid, Highway Transportation, Low-Income Assistance, and the list goes on and on!

Students please Bring a Water Bottle to School.
As part of the school reopening safety plan we have closed all the water fountains in school hallways. We do have fountains at each school that will be open for bottle filling. We are asking students to bring a water bottle for personal use. If you have any questions, please contact your school.
School Nutrition/Meals Program
All students enrolled in the ROAR virtual program are eligible to participate in our school lunch program. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) covers all elementary and middle schools students providing them a free breakfast/lunch. High school students will need to fill out a lunch application to participate in the meal program. Student lunches can be picked up at the students zoned school during a designated time and all you have to do is contact the school’s principal and set up a schedule to come and pick up the breakfast/lunches. At this point we are unable to offer meal delivery.
In addition, beginning on Wednesday August 12, you can stop by your school cafeteria between 10:00 and 11:00 AM to pick up meals for the rest of the week. This will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays through our staggered schedule plan. Please come by on those days and receive food for your children. If the staggered schedule is extended we will follow the above procedures and if we change our schedule, we will get you more information on how to pick up your child’s meals.
**Because Meigs North, Meigs South, and Meigs Middle are CEP schools, all students who attend these schools are eligible to apply for the P-EBT card. The application period has been extended to Friday, August 14, 2020**
Great news! Families with children who qualify for free or reduced lunches OR who attend a CEP School are eligible for Pandemic EBT. It provides additional money for food to help you during the COVID-19 pandemic. Within the month, they will begin issuing these benefits to current SNAP recipients that qualify. Tennesseans who do not receive SNAP will need to apply at the following website:
