11th Grade

11th graders and parents,

You are in the 11th grade now, which means you are almost ready to venture out into the adult world.

The junior year is a vital year in helping a student plan his or her future beyond Meigs High School. Below is a checklist to help a junior make the most out of this important year:

  • Be here! Attendance and being attentive in class not only makes a good student but also a good employee. It is hard to fail when you are giving it your all.

  • Take the ACT. Every student is required to take the ACT in order to graduate in the state of TN. Since this is the case, why not do your very best? ACT prep books are available in the library and if you have not taken the ACT prep class, I would strongly suggest it!

  • Make a plan. College, career, military - what is your plan? Your junior year is a time to start making difficult decisions. Go on college tours, take the ASVAB if you are looking at the military or speak to a recruiter, and research interesting careers.

  • Begin applying for scholarships. Don't wait until the last minute for these. While some scholarships require you to be a senior, there are many awards available for underclassmen.
