Principal's Passage

3rd Edition::

It is hard to believe that we are almost one-quarter of the way though the school year! Your students have been working so hard every day, and I am proud of each one of them.

Many of you have asked how you can help your students at home. I strongly encourage your o check your student's folder every time it is sent home. In grades K-2, please review spelling words and other work that is sent home for practice. As little as 15 minutes per night can make a huge difference for a child. In grades 3-5, please check for spelling words and make a note of any tests your student may have for the week. Again, 15 minutes of review a night can help a student quite a bit.

Above all, take time to talk to your student and ask things like, "What was the best part of today?" or " Who did you eat lunch with?". Taking a few moments to have a positive conversation about school will help your student both in school and at home. I appreciate all you do for your students, and I look forward to watching them continue to learn and grow.

2nd edition:

We had a wonderful first month of school. Students have completed diagnostic tests to help teachers understand how to best help students in the classrooms. These results were sent home with your child. If you have any questions about these reports, please contact the teacher or schedule an appointment during Open House.

Open House is September 18th from 3:45-6:45. Please call the office if you would like to schedule an appointment. 423-334-5444.

Please remember that regular school attendance is the number one predictor of success in school. All students need to be at school every day they are not sick.

The Book Fair is scheduled for Sept. 23-29, and Goodies with Someone Grand is Sept. 26th. A flyer was sent home with all the information about this event.

Thank you for your continued support of MSE students and teachers!

1st edition:

Welcome back to school! I am Mrs. Rachel Boshears, and I am so excited to be the new principal at Meigs South. I have truly enjoyed meeting the staff, students, and families; everyone has been exceedingly kind.

As we begin the new school year, I want to remind everyone to please drive slowly and safely around the school. Please be patient in the car rider line. Parents, please do not get out of your car when you pick up your child. I causes delays.

Also, regular school attendance is one of the biggest predictors of a student's success not only in the classroom but also when they enter the workforce. Please make every effort to send your child to school every day he or she is healthy.

We have had a great beginning to the school year, and I can't wait to watch your children learn and grow this year. If you have any questions for me, my email is rachelboshears@meigsgschool.net.
