Welcome to MEIGS VIRTUAL PROGRAM!

Meigs Virtual Program is a full-time online program for GRADES K-12, and offers a blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning as an alternative to the traditional in-person classroom experience.

We offer high quality learning through live lessons and independent assignments.  Students engage with their peers through community-based events, including district activities, sports and clubs.  MEIGS VIRTUAL PROGRAM fosters a unique partnership between families and educators, ensuring a personalized and supportive learning experience.

The program is offered through a collaborative partnership between Meigs County Schools and Pearson, a notable name in education with 20+ years of experience in online schools.

The program is academically rigorous and requires high levels of student autonomy and dedication to learning. While some flexibility is a benefit of this program, students are expected to log in daily, maintain adequate grades, make satisfactory progress, and participate in communication with educators.   Administrators will monitor student performance and pace, to ensure students are progressing through the program successfully.

What is MEIGS VIRTUAL PROGRAM?

  • A fully online blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning

  • Flexible in terms of when and where you work throughout the day

  • Partnered with Pearson for academically rigorous course offerings and Tennessee state-certified teachers who offer optional live sessions, small group interventions, and individualized appointments.

  • Using the same Tennessee curriculum standards that all other Meigs Schools offer.

  • Offering the same diploma that all other Meigs graduates receive

An application is required for admission into this program, which outlines specific attendance, participation, and disciplinary expectations for admittance.  Students may choose to switch back to in-person learning at appropriate transition times, but they may not move in and out of the program repeatedly.  If they withdraw from the virtual program, they will not be eligible to return during the remainder of the school year.

Is Virtual Education the right choice for your child?

Virtual Learning may be a good fit if your child:

  • Prefers working independently/at your own pace.

  • Has good time-management skills or is open to developing them.

  • Has a supportive home environment with a parent or guardian who can serve as a Learning Coach (especially for younger students).

  • Feels comfortable using technology.

  • Needs a flexible schedule (e.g., athletes, performers, teen parents, working students).

  • Wants an alternative to traditional school due to bullying, social anxiety, or a need for a different learning environment.

It might not be right if your child:

  • Prefers daily in-person support to stay motivated.

  • Needs consistent social interaction to stay engaged.

  • It doesn’t have reliable internet access.

  • Enjoys hands-on learning or activities that require a physical classroom.
