Our Vision
The vision for the MCS Early Childhood program is that all stakeholders will work together to provide a compassionate environment that promotes structure & encourages growth through fun, meaningful experiences.
Meigs County Schools is excited to announce that we are expanding our Early Childhood Classrooms. Previously we called these classrooms Voluntary PreK Classrooms because the VPK Grant funded them. We are now blending our funds to provide more opportunities for the preschool children of Meigs County. Meigs County Schools now has three Early Childhood classrooms at Meigs North Elementary & two Early Childhood Classrooms at Meigs South Elementary. We currently have the capability of filling 95 seats across the district.
We are still taking applications for the 2023-2024 SCHOOL year.

Family Resource Agency of Tennessee serves three-year-old children in a Head Start classroom located at Meigs South Elementary.
Head Start believes disadvantaged children and their families can be helped through participation in an early childhood program. Our mission is to empower children, parents, and staff to lead happier, healthier, more productive lives by realizing the full potential that lies within all persons.
This is accomplished by creating an atmosphere that encourages respect, responsiveness, and nurturing towards each other in a manner that unleashes and supports the inherent right to be a unique individual.
Please note that our classrooms are aligned with the school systems' schedules; therefore, we follow the same holiday and school closings as the school systems.
