Congratulations to this year's Patriot's Pen essay contest winners! Conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition encourages students to use their minds and knowledge of America's history and their experience of today's American society to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. Cash prizes were awarded, and Mr. Woods also received a plaque for Meigs Middle School's participation each year in the contest.

A huge shoutout to Jim Swafford with Weichert Realtors - The Space Place for his incredible generosity! 🏠🤝

Jim recently made a donation to each school in our district to help us meet the essential needs of our students this winter season. Whether it’s helping students stay warm or providing extra support during the holidays, this contribution will make a significant impact on our students' well-being.

We are fortunate to have partners who care deeply about our community. Thank you, Jim, for investing in our children and making this season a little brighter for our kids! 🌟

CTE Spotlight: Story & Scene Diorama Project!

Our 6th grade CTE students are bringing literacy to life through a hands-on diorama project that connects directly to ELA. Students selected a story, memoir, or poem and recreated a meaningful scene inside a shoebox using figurines, paper cutouts, and handmade props.

Examples of texts students used include:
📚 My Life with the Chimpanzees — jungle/forest scene
🐕 Hachiko — Sabouya Station setting
🐎 The Blessing — the moment with the horses and the stranger at the barbed-wire fence

Through this project, students practiced sequencing, strengthened their storytelling skills, and expressed meaning through visual communication. Their creativity and attention to detail truly brought these stories to life!
