Kona Ice will be at MNE tomorrow, Friday, March 7. Teachers should have provided you with a price list. Prices range from $3-7. Thanks. JJ

Ollie the Otter visited MNE on January 24 to teach our students about traffic safety. Topics included when to move from car seats to booster seats, to seat belts, not texting and driving, and being safe in a highway work zone. Ollie uses the phrase "4"9" it's booster time!" to help us remember that if kids are 4"9 or under, then they should use a booster seat when riding in a car to help the seat belt fit properly and keep us as safe as possible.

Some of our amazing students will be participating in the State Wrestling Tournament in Franklin, Tennessee. We would like to wish Zev, Zane, and Brooklyn good luck. Zev and Zane are in Kindergarten and Brooklyn is in 3rd grade at Meigs North Elementary. We hope you have a great time.

Third-grade students are concluding their narrative writing unit this week. They read two passages about tornadoes and retold the story from the perspective of one of the main characters. Today, they hosted a “Writer’s Café,” where they could bring in snacks and drinks while working on their final drafts. Students had the opportunity to have their peers review their work and provide feedback on areas for improvement. Thank you to everyone who sent stuff in!

The weather is being monitored, and a decision about school tmrw has not been made. MNE sent home remote learning packets with students today as a precautionary measure. IF we are out of school tmrw, students will need to complete the packets. IF we are in school tmrw, then students do not have to complete them. JJ

Meigs North Drill Team performed at Meigs County High School on January 31st. These third, fourth, and fifth grade students spend an enormous amount of time practicing their skills. They use part of our Meigs North Creed to work hard on daily and weekly drills. This year due to some changes they had less time to fine tune their performance. We would like to thank Mrs. Christy Hennessee for taking the time and effort to help our students learn and practice in such a short amount of time. Congratulations to our Drill Team on a job well done!

The Countywide 4-H Public Speaking Contest will be held on February 19. The top 10% from each school will compete for the 1st place spot in fourth and fifth grade.
