Today Mrs. Neely’s Second Grade students put their data-collecting and graphing skills to the test—in the tastiest way possible! 😋
We sampled different varieties of apples and collected data to find out which flavor our class liked the best. Students practiced making observations, recording their data, and using our results to create a graph.
Learning + teamwork + apples = one delicious math and science activity! 🍎📊❤️

Our book fair is finally here!
Celebrating International Dot Day (9/15) in art this week! Dot Day originated with the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds. We began class by reading the book then working on our dot art. This is first grade using dot markers to fill in a larger spot or to make a negative space dot.
The Book Fair materials were delivered to MNE today, so our book fair will start tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16. Students will have the chance to shop this week during specials. Thanks. JJ

Anyone that is interested Cub Scouts can attend Open House this week.
3rd grade is gearing up to start writing narratives. Today, they worked on improving their skills for writing dialogue. They were given a dialogue sentence and students had to continue the conversation. Students then got to peer review each other’s writing. It was a great day in 3rd grade writing!
Even though the power went out for a bit, Mrs. Henson’s class pushed through and completed their Reading 360 Foundational Skills lesson.
Students practiced their reading fluency by rereading a story from The Cat Bandit, and answered questions about key details from the story. 🐈⬛

4th and 5th graders had a great time at the movies for a TCAP reward trip!
Don't forget! Meigs North Open House on Thursday, September 10th from 4:00-7:00. A Title I Meeting will be in the cafeteria at 3:30. Please come out and join us.
These 4th graders were invited to the movies as a reward for last year’s TCAP. We saw Coyote vs. Acme and came back to school for a picnic in the gym.
