Exciting News for our Future Students! 🍎📚 We are looking forward to welcoming our newest learners! We have updated this year's PreK pre-registration process. Headstart & PreK Pre-Registration: Join us at Meigs Middle School from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM to begin the pre-registration process. Kindergarten Pre-Registration: Kindergarten registration will take place at your child's assigned zoned school from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. To complete registration, please bring the following required documents: Up-to-date Immunization Records Official Birth Certificate Updated Physical Examination Form Please note: Document requirements are waived for students in state custody or experiencing homelessness. We want to ensure a smooth registration for everyone. Read Across America Day is today, so we would like to recognize a ROCK STAR READER!! Miss Lila Ricker, from Mrs. Samis 2nd grade class, earned 100 A.R. Points at the end of February! Thursday, February 27, 2025 was a super special day at MSE. Students received two golden tickets to invite special guests in their life to our school. These tickets were given to parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, fellow church members, and friends! With the golden ticket, these guests came into the school, visited their special students' classrooms, received a make and take activity, and ate a special snack with their students prepared by our very own MSE teachers! Teachers made cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and more. Thank you to Mrs. Leslie Martin, our RTI/Title I director for overseeing the program. This was one of the most special events we have ever hosted. We look forward to having a similar event in the future! #msetheplacetobe

Public Speaking Update!!!!! The top 10 students from 4th and 5th grade traveled to the district competition held in Decatur on Tuesday, January 25th. After a rigorous competition, we are ecstatic to announce our County Wide Winners! Meigs South students won 4 of the 5 top spots in 4th grade, and they swept the county by winning all 5 spots in 5th grade. 4th grade ~ 2nd place Maddie Couch, 3rd place Payton Gracey, 4th place Tripp Jackson, and 5th place Enoch Irwin 5th grade ~ 1st place Atlas Shannon, 2nd place, Wyatt Lee, 3rd place Jaxon Jones, 4th place Dawson Hurst, and 5th place Maddux Miller We are incredibly proud of our students and their hard work. Their character of support, courage, enthusiasm, and respect was shining bright at each competition. #msetheplacetobe

Yesterday Mrs. White's fourth grade math students got to explore fractions in a new fun way thanks to new manipulatives provided by a Meigs County Retired Teacher grant. Thank you for supporting our students! #msetheplacetobe

"The more you read, the more things you'll know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go!" This statement is so true for MSE 1st grade, Ally Henley. Ally is a student in Mrs. Ratliff's class. Mrs. Ratliff's love for learning and teaching is so evident to her students. So much so, that Ally has earned 50 A. R. Points since Christmas!! This is an AMAZING accomplishment for a 1st grade student. We are so proud of Ally AND Mrs. Ratliff!! #msetheplacetobe

Meigs South is so very blessed to be a part of the Project Basic Program. This is an extra program for our K-2 population that focuses on building good character, becoming a role model student, and strategizing through all emotions. Our coordinator is Mrs. Beth Dodson. She is AWESOME!! As you can tell, our students are engaging well with her, learning a lot, and excited to participate in her activities. MSE Kindergarten had the best day celebrating Thanksgiving by partaking in a pie tasting, making turkey headbands, practicing their gobbles, learning the true meaning of Thanksgiving, and much more!! It was a great day to be 5 and 6!! #msetheplacetobe
