Not only do our PreK teachers follow a high-quality curriculum, but they also use their creative minds to teach important life lessons! β¨
During a transition time, Ms. Jenna and Ms. Chrissy focused on a truly important skill: kindness. For a meaningful lesson in friendship, students practiced giving a compliment or saying something kind to a friend before passing them the ball. It was beautiful to watch their focus and generosity!
Thank you, Ms. Jenna, for this great idea!
π‘ Bringing the Kindness Home: Parent Pointers
Want to reinforce this skill at home? Here are a few quick tips:
**The Dinner Compliment Game:** At the dinner table, have each family member say one kind thing about another person at the table.
**Kindness Spotting:** Ask your child, "What's the kindest thing you saw someone do today?" This helps them notice and value positive actions.
**"I Can Help" Moments:** Give your child small, specific jobs to help a family member (e.g., "Can you please help your sister pick up her toys?" or "Can you help me set the table?"). This builds a habit of helpfulness and generosity.

Look at these adorable learners helping Little Bo Peep find her lost sheep! This week, the class mixed nursery rhyme fun with a fantastic shaving cream sensory activity. It's wonderful to see the kids learning through playβexploring textures, engaging their imaginations, and strengthening those fine motor skills all at once!
Keep up the great work, everyone! We are so proud of you! β€οΈ
Parent Tips for Rhyme Time at Home π
Want to keep the nursery rhyme excitement going? Here are a few quick tips for parents to encourage literacy, memory, and language skills at home:
Make it Active: Don't just reciteβact it out! For "Jack and Jill," pretend to fall down. For "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," grab a partner and "row" while sitting on the floor. Movement helps little ones remember and understand the words.
Get Silly with Art: After reciting a rhyme, have your child draw a picture of the characters. It doesn't have to be perfectβthe focus is on recalling the details. You can even use finger paint or playdough to make it another fun sensory experience!
Create a Rhyme Book: Print out the words to a few favorite nursery rhymes. Staple them together and let your child decorate the cover. Point to the words as you read, showing them how printed text matches the sounds you are saying, which is an important step toward reading readiness.
What's your child's favorite nursery rhyme right now? Share it in the comments! π

We want to give a huge shout-out to Ms. Chrissy and Mrs. Jenna's PreK class for all their hard work on prewriting skills! π These students are doing so much more than just scribblingβthey're building the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
Did you know that prewriting skills are essential for PreK students? ποΈ They help build fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive understanding, setting the stage for legible handwriting and increased confidence!
You can support your child at home with fun activities like:
Fine Motor Play: Playdough, puzzles, and stringing beads for dexterity.
Mark-Making: Scribbling with chunky crayons or tracing shapes in sand.
Daily Skills: Using child-safe scissors or buttoning clothes helps too!
