Students in the middle and high school band performed for a full house at the spring band concert. Students played a variety of songs from Disney musicals. There were also some princesses in attendance. Mr. D did a good job directing our Meigs County band!

This February, students were able to participate in the 38th Annual Essay Contest sponsored by Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Tennesseee State Organization, and our local chapter Gamma Zeta. The topic of the essay: "What is a challenge you have overcome and how did you grow from this experience?" was given to middle school students. We would like to announce our local winners at the middle school level: Congratulations to Jocelyn L., Mollie G., Sadie S., and Lena B.


The Meigs Middle School girls volleyball team will begin tournament play today at 5:00pm in Englewood. Come support our girls as they take on McMinn East.

VFW Post 7189 presented Meigs Middle students certificates and awards for their participation in the Patriot's Pen essay contest. This VFW-sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to write essays expressing their views on an annual patriotic theme. This year Meigs Middle had 84 students complete an essay. VFW members, Otto Appelt, Marvin Lewis, William Scott and William Singleton, awarded the top three essay winners from each grade a plaque and cash prizes of $50 for 3rd place, $75 for 2nd place, and $100 for 1st place. We appreciate our local VFW for involving our students in projects that will help them value the sacrifices that have been made for our country. 6th grade - 1st place - Jocelyn H., 2nd place - Lillian S., 3rd place - Jenna J. 7th grade - 1st place - Abigail P., 2nd place - Case M., 3rd place - Justyce S. 8th grade - 1st place - Madeline L., 2nd place - Hannah S., 3rd place - Wyatt H.

The Meigs County Lady Tigers will be in action in the district tournament tonight, February 16, at 6 pm. Admission is $5, and only TSSAA and TACA passes will be accepted. Gates will open at 5 pm. The game will not be live-streamed due to TSSAA District Tournament rules.
