Local volunteer firefighters came to talk to the kids about fire safety. The highlight for the youngest students is always riding on the fire trucks.

Mr. Gene keeps our school clean and running well, but everyone needs some down time. He took time from his break to play flag football with the 5th grade students.

Staff members at Meigs North held a pumpkin decorating contest last week. The pumpkins were displayed during our Fall Festival and voted on by students and parents. There were some very creative pumpkins. Our winner was the Alice in Wonderland pumpkin by Ms. Marilyn Davis.

Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those that don't; yet, only a quarter of students report having these conversations. Red Ribbon Week (October 16-20th), the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation, is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started. Visit www.redribbon.org to learn more about Red Ribbon Week and get tips for talking to your kids about drugs. The life you save may be that of your own child or dear friend.
