Give them confidence on Day One. ❤️
We know sending your little one to school is a big step. But did you know that attending PreK is the single biggest predictor of Kindergarten readiness in our district?
We recently reviewed the benchmark scores for our current Kindergartners to assess the impact of our program. The results are incredible! Compared to students who didn't attend PreK, our PreK grads:
✅ Knew 63% more letter sounds on the first day of Kindergarten.
✅ Were reading words 38% faster by Winter.
✅ Are significantly more likely to be "Low Risk" and on track for success.
Let's get them ready to read, learn, and grow!

Director of Schools Clint Baker and Principal Justin Jennings were honored to accept this gift, which was made possible by the Eastern Hemlock Fund. These funds will be used directly to install a much-needed awning at the bus drop-off area, ensuring our students and teachers remain dry and safe during inclement weather.
Thank you to Representative Howell and Lisa Geren for facilitating this gift and supporting our schools. What a wonderful way to kick off 2026!

We are pleased to inform you of our winter break schedule: early dismissal on December 19th, with a break from December 22nd to January 5th. Teachers will return on January 5th, while students will be back in school on January 6th. This break is a great opportunity for students and staff to recharge for the new year! 🌟

Meigs County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, Dec. 15 due to forecasted extreme temperatures.

They are diving into valuable sessions focused on strategies to better serve our students. A major highlight so far has been hearing from keynote speaker Gerry Brooks! His message on building a positive school culture really resonated with each of the participants.
They are soaking up the inspiration (and the laughs!) and look forward to bringing these great ideas back home!

A huge shoutout to Jim Swafford with Weichert Realtors - The Space Place for his incredible generosity! 🏠🤝
Jim recently made a donation to each school in our district to help us meet the essential needs of our students this winter season. Whether it’s helping students stay warm or providing extra support during the holidays, this contribution will make a significant impact on our students' well-being.
We are fortunate to have partners who care deeply about our community. Thank you, Jim, for investing in our children and making this season a little brighter for our kids! 🌟

Are you a passionate and certified educator looking for a rewarding, short-term opportunity?

We're proud of the engaging learning happening in our PreK classrooms! Here's a quick look at what we've been exploring this week:
🍃 Scientists in the Classroom
Our students are deep into seasonal science!
We've been studying leaves, learning that they are the food-makers for trees and observing the veins that carry water.
We felt the difference between smooth, soft leaves and dry, crunchy ones, which led to discussions about how things decompose in nature.
🌉 Engineers in Training
We used the story of the Gingerbread Boy to practice vital skills!
Students brainstormed how he could cross the water, settling on solutions like a boat or a bridge.
Working in teams, they designed and built their ideas! This hands-on problem-solving builds creativity, resilience, and critical thinking skills essential for success in school and life.
🏡 PreK Learning at Home: December Ideas!
Keep the learning going throughout the holidays with these simple, fun activities:
1. Read Daily: Cozy up and read a book together every day. Look for stories about winter, holidays, or different cultures.
2. Make a Pattern Chain: Use construction paper strips (red/green/white or any colors you have) to make a paper chain for decorating. Have your child follow a pattern (e.g., red, green, red, green) when linking the strips together. This helps develop early math skills in sequencing!
3. Kitchen Science: Let your child help measure ingredients for baking. This is a great, hands-on introduction to math concepts, such as volume and fractions.
We wish all our families a wonderful start to the holiday season!

All students will return to school on Monday, December 1st.
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday!
